Yes, I realize I’m skipping a few of the Doctor’s companions by leaping directly to Zoe, but only because I’ve never seen any episodes featuring Sarah Kingdom, Dorothea “Dodo” Chaplet, Polly Wright, or Victoria Waterfield.

Zoe Heriot, played by the almost insanely adorable Wendy Padbury, was a companion of the second Doctor (Patrick Troughton). Zoe was an astrophysicist aboard Space Station W3 (“The Wheel”) when she met the Doctor and his goofy Scottish companion, Jamie McCrimmon.

Zoe is one of my favorite companions — perky, tiny, and usually clad in some sort of form-fitting jumpsuit. She was also portrayed as extremely intelligent (y’know, like astrophysicists tend to be), and the combination of brains and that delightful little rump packed firmly into a sparkling spacesuit is a lethal one.

She also kicked ass in battle with the Cybermen, who foolishly opted not to convert her because she ain’t no bigger than a minute.

Wendy Padbury is in her 60s now and still looks great.
